Euro Zone GDP drops but Ireland GDP grew by 3% in 2020

The Euro zone GDP fell to a -6.4% (across all 27 countries). Last November the European Commission estimated a even bigger recession (-7.8% accross). 

The only country in Europe that had a positive economic result in 2020 was Ireland, with a +3.2%. All other contries showed a recession in the economy.

The pharmaceutical and IT sectors (including the export of medical equipment and IT services) were the main drivers of the Irish economy. Another factor that contributed to this result was the reopening of all businesses just before Christmas.

New Measures at EazyCity to help minimise the spread of Covid-19


At EazyCity we are following the Government & Public Health guidelines regarding measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 as we aim to return to normal trading in the coming weeks. We would like to confirm that we are accepting bookings from clients arriving from abroad and those clients will be permitted to check in to our accommodation immediately upon arrival to Ireland. 

New Measures at EazyCity to help minimise the spread of Covid-19

Client Relations

  • Pre-arrival communication with clients to advise them of new measures and to ask them to download the Covid-19 Tracker App upon arrival in Ireland
  • All payments to be made online or via bank transfer to minimise the need to visit our office
  • Our office headquarters at 112 Oliver Plunkett Street, Cork will re-open to the public on Monday 17thAugustwith new opening hours as follows:
    • Monday & Friday 09.30-13.30
    • Wednesday 14.00 – 19.00
    • Please note that our office will be open to facilitate new bookings and general customer service. There will be a limit on the number of people permitted in the reception area at one time.
    • Our check-in agreement will now also include reference to public health guidelines
    • Clients will receive communication on check-in from EazyCity regarding the steps to take if there is a suspected case of Covid-19 in their accommodation


  • Extra signage will be placed in all accommodation to promote hand hygiene and other hygiene practises as well as Covid-19 public health guidelines
  • No visitors or guests are allowed in EazyCity accommodation until further notice
  • Clients will be asked to adhere to social distancing as much as possible within the common areas of their accommodation by taking turns using the kitchen and not congregating all together in the kitchen and living areas
  • An increased cleaning schedule has been put in place by the EazyCity cleaning team including the use of steam cleaners and anti-bacterial cleaning products. Extra time is being allowed for in the schedule to carry out a thorough deep cleaning of bedrooms before each new check-in
  • We will be offering self-check ins only at this time – clients will be provided with full details of how to retrieve their keys and check in prior to arrival. They will be provided with our Emergency Phone number for assistance.
  • We will not be accepting twin space bookings until further notice; twin rooms may only be booked by 2 people arriving together

New Program! Remote Internships with Irish companies

In a moment where things as we know it have changed, we have adapted our programs to continue supporting students and young professionals to start or boost their professional career. We are glad to introduce our latest program: Remote Internships.

We have changed the format of our previous internship programs, from in person to online, but we maintain the excellent quality of standards as well as our support through the whole experience. Moreover, a Reference Letter and Attendance Certificate at the end of the Remote Internship will be addressed – this would help you for educational or work application in future! 

Remote internships work in partnership with our recognised partners across Ireland, UK and Spain. They cover a variety of fields where work can be carried out online, from marketing, sales or graphic design to customer service or IT. Fields for Remote Internships change depending on the country, so please visit our website to find more information for each country/city – Cork, Dublin, London and Valencia

So, what’s included in the Remote Internship Program?

Would I be supervised by a Manager? 

Yes, you can count on the mentoring and support of a Manager/Co-ordinator/Supervisor in your host company via online platforms. On your first day, the host company will provide you with all the information and tools you need to develop your work smoothly. 

Also, our team will be available during the 8-12 weeks duration of your remote internship for any questions or doubts you might have, and to make sure your internship objectives are met. 

When can I start my Remote Internship Program? 

At your earliest convenience. Companies are looking for candidates to start as soon as possible in Ireland, United Kingdom and Spain, so the sooner the better!

What are the requirements? 

We don’t want to overcomplicate the process in this current situation, we just want to make it simple for you. The health and safety of our staff,  partners, host families and clients is our priority so with that in mind we are asking all upcoming arrivals in advance of departure for Ireland to declare whether they have visited any of the high risk areas as listed on the government website ,or whether they have been in close contact with anyone from the high risk areas. We are asking all current tenants to be mindful of the travel restrictions in place and to respect these for the health and safety of all clients.
