Cork Admirals brought Superbowl to Cork

The American football team of Cork, the Admirals organized a flash mob on Grand Parade on Saturday 24th January. They arrived fully dressed as American football players and surprised the people in the street. This marketing operation has been made to promote the Superbowl party by the Cardinals that will take place at the Dolphin RFC on the night of the big game, on Sunday, 2nd February.

The shoppers and the pedestrians looked really surprised and amused by this improvised show, some of them even played with the team and tried to score touchdowns and to put some tackles.

Admirals president Stuart Donaldson said the surprise performance brought back some interest in a club that has gained more and more popularity in the past years. The club had returned in August 2013 after years of inactivity. “We had gone through a transitional period where a lot of the older players had moved on and we didn’t have enough players to compete. Last season we put a mostly rookie team together and made it to the IAFL-1 (Irish American Football League) Bowl final,” he said.

If you would like to see their performance, here’s the video!
